WK Rokan's Transition Successfully Increases Production

Jakarta, June 17, 2022 – The Rokan Working Area (WK) management transfer process is the best record in Indonesian oil history. Not only did the transition activities go well, but it was also followed by a production performance increase in the second-largest oil and gas WK in the country. PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) has officially managed the Rokan WK since August 9, 2021.

The PHR WK Rokan's outstanding performance for the 2021 fiscal year was delivered at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS), attended by the board of commissioners, board of directors, and shareholder representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/6). The company's health level is categorized as healthy or AA based on the assessment of factors, namely the Financial Performance Value, Growth Performance Value, Operational Performance Value, and Administrative Performance Value.

“The year 2021 was a very special year for PHR. The Rokan Working Area (WK) management transfer process runs smoothly and does not interfere with oil and gas production and deserves to be a role model for other oil and gas WK operator transfer schemes in the future," said President Director of PHR, Jaffee A. Suardin. After the management transfer period from August 9, 2021, until the end of 2021, WK Rokan recorded 166 thousand barrels of production equivalent to oil per day (MBOEPD). This figure consists of 159.5 thousand oil barrels production per day (MBOPD) and  37.7 million standard cubic feet production of gas per day (MMSCFD). WK Rokan contributes to 24% of total national production.

This positive performance received appreciation from the Board of Commissioners of PHR. “We are optimistic that PHR will be able to maintain a solid performance in the coming year. WK Rokan has strategic value to achieve national oil and gas production targets,"  said Rosa Vivien Ratnawati, Commissioner of PHR. To increase WK Rokan production, massive-aggressive work plans are carried out. It includes drilling new wells, workovers, water and steam injection technology optimization, Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR) technology development, and Non-Conventional Oil and Gas (MNK). With careful planning, WK Rokan is currently drilling an average of one new well per day and shortening the time from drilling to production.

According to its mission to provide benefits and added value for all stakeholders, PHR is implementing the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program effectively in 2021. Its main focus is in the fields of health, education, economy, and the environment. All programs are designed to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. In the first 100 days after the management transfer, the TJSL PHR WK Rokan program was directly and indirectly beneficial to more than 3,000 beneficiaries.

The PHR WK Rokan's superior achievements are accompanied by the Good Corporate Governance (GCG) policies implementation effectiveness, aspects of Occupational Safety and Health (K3), digitalization strategies, and goods/services supply chain management. In the future, PHR is also required to implement the energy transition to New and Renewable Energy (EBT). With the spirit for Go Green and sustainability, PHR will start treading by building a Solar Power Center (PLTS) projected to produce 25 MW.**
