Trade Expo Indonesia Officially Opened, Pertamina Bring 50 MSMEs Ready to Go Global

Serpong, 22 October 2022 - Pertamina brings 50 fostered partners to the largest international trade exhibition in Indonesia, Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2022, officially opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition Bumi Serpong Damai (ICE BSD), Tangerang, Banten.

With "Strengthening Global Trade for Stronger Recovery" as the theme, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said amidst the crisis and recession occurred. Indonesia has the highest economic growth among other G20 countries, with 5,44% in the second quarter economic growth. 

"We hope that the 37th Trade Expo Indonesia will encourage a trade balance surplus in the future," Jokowi said during the TEI 2022 opening, Nusantara Room, BSD (19/10).

TEI will be held from 19-23 October 2022 and will be a meeting event to increase domestic exports where Pertamina has set a transaction target to exceed IDR 7 billion in 2019.

Various foster partners' products at the Pertamina booth attracted visitors, including the President of the Republic of Indonesia, who stopped at the Kandora Coffee booth owned by Arni Pabunga, serving coffee from Toraja, South Sulawesi, which was traditionally hand-processed by great Toraja women.

Arni Pabunga revealed five countries, such as South Korea, Switzerland, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Japan, had ordered from Kandora Coffee.

"Coffee connoisseurs understand better that the traditional processing will give a different coffee taste and produce more cream. I hope for a huge opportunity in the export market through this TEI exhibition," Arni said.

Likewise, Evi, the owner of Sobag, selling Indonesian Woven Bags, said that her woven bags are handmade. For the export market, weaving is chosen with a motif that is indeed a maximum stockist so that when there is a large order, the supply is sufficient. "Alhamdulillah, there are potential transactions with buyers from Malaysia and Spain," he said.

Wira, the owner of the Jokotelle Collection, said he was pleased to be a part of a prestigious exhibition like TEI because he could introduce Madurese batik with various motifs and colors. On the first day of the exhibition, Wira got a new customer from Bank Syariah for batik uniforms with classic motifs, and a 300 pcs transaction was immediately made.

"Today, I also got a buyer from Malaysia. Hopefully, this TEI can get more new customers," wira said cheerfully.

In addition to international exhibitions, TEI will hold several supporting activities such as a memorandum of trade cooperation signing between countries, the Trade, Tourism, and Investment (TTI) Forum which discusses various current issues in international trade, business matching, business counseling, as well as a special stage with various activities.

Vice President of CSR & SMEPP, Fajriyah Usman, conveyed the involvement of the assisted MSMEs in the TEI 2022 event was expected to be a market promotion event, considering that the TEI exhibition was attended by many potential buyers as well as encouraging the spirit of independence to become strong and professional entrepreneurs.

The MSMEs involvement in global scale exhibitions is Pertamina's support in achieving the eight SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) related to the provision of employment and economic growth as well as the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) based programs in all Pertamina operational areas.**
