Targeting 400-500 New Wells in 2022, PHR Inaugurates Operational Control Center

Pekanbaru, December 29, 2021 - PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) is making various preparations to support a massive and aggressive work plan to drill 400 to 500 new wells in the Rokan Working Area (WK) next year. Today (29/12), President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, directly inaugurated the PHR WK Rokan War Room.

The facility is the operational control center for focal activities to support the drilling program targets for next year. From this facility, data and information of drilling program implementation can be monitored directly or in real-time. This facility will support quick and accurate decision-making according to conditions in the field. As a result, the goal of drilling 400-500 new wells can be met.

"War Room as an operational control center is Pertamina's effort in achieving efficiency through Go Digital. This facility is vital for quick decision-making by management, especially to achieve production targets," said Nicke in her speech.

Also attending the inauguration ceremony were Finance Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Emma Sri Martini, Director of Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) - Upstream Subholding Subholding, Budiman Parhusip, President Director of PHR, Jaffee A Suardin, and PHR WK Rokan management.

The War Room facility is located in the Main Office of PHR WK Rokan in Rumbai and is equipped with at least six main screens. Data and information are displayed in a digital dashboard related to Asset Development and Drilling & Completion, which monitors drilling activities and an integrated drilling schedule (Integrated Drilling Schedule); Facility Engineering, which prepares drilling locations and builds well production facilities; and Operations & Maintenance, which monitors and manages production activities along with equipment maintenance.

Through this facility, field activities and conditions can be monitored through CCTV, including the readiness of drilling locations, the number of wells to be drilled and have been drilled and those that have been produced; the number and location of operating rigs; the amount of oil production through digital visualization. If there are obstacles, the relevant teams can immediately discuss the best solution. It is a manifestation of Pertamina's Go Collaborative spirit to achieve productive and efficient upstream oil and gas operations.

"We welcome the existence of this War Room. This facility can be used as a model for other work areas in Pertamina's Upstream Subholding," said Budiman Parhusip.

Meanwhile, Jaffee A Suardin said in his speech, "WK Rokan has a massive and aggressive target. We believe this facility can support the drilling of 400-500 new wells next year. PHR plans to increase the number of rigs to at least 20 drilling rigs. Currently, WK Rokan operates 17 drilling rigs. Next year, the annual average production target is expected to increase to around 180 thousand barrels per day," he said.

To achieve this target, it must be supported by the timely provision of supporting goods and services, land preparation, and support from relevant stakeholders, both the local government and the surrounding community. In addition, PHR strives to maintain base production, maintain the reliability of operating facilities and equipment, increase facility capacity to adapt to increased production, explore new technologies and develop non-conventional oil and gas to optimize production from WK Rokan.

The massive and aggressive work plan is part of the Rokan WK production target plan of 300 thousand BOPD in 2025 and optimally contributes to the national target of 1 million BOPD and 12 BSCFD production in 2030.

Since the transfer of management of the Rokan Block by Pertamina from August 9, 2021, to December 2021, PHR WK Rokan has successfully drilled 131 new wells. Meanwhile, the total production of the Rokan Block reaches an average of 162 thousand barrels of oil per day (BOPD) during 2021.
