Supporting G20, Pertamina Invites Young Generation to Collaborate in Succeeding Indonesia's Energy Transition
Jakarta, March 26, 2022 – PT Pertamina (Persero) invites the younger generation to collaborate in the success of Indonesia’s energy transition, supported by the global trust in Indonesia 2022 G20 Presidency. In the G20 Forum, Pertamina will encourage the acceleration of the sustainable energy transition, ensure a just and affordable transition, and global cooperation in enhancing energy security.
At the Youth Forum Energy Transitions organized by the Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) in Yogyakarta (25/3), Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources said that the program is an opportunity for Indonesia's best young generation to participate in supporting programs towards clean energy.
"Our country is rich, and its natural resources are extraordinary. We have fossil energy and new renewable energy sources. But what we do not have is the technology," Arifin said.
According to Arifin, the younger generation must be able to carry out creative activities related to innovation and technology, so in the future, they can make a greater contribution, especially to the energy transition.
"Put the younger generation in remote areas to identify existing EBT sources. It will be used as a database to build energy infrastructure, to provide wider access to the community. It will continue to strive for development," Arifin said.
Oki Muraza, Senior Vice President, Research & Technology Innovation of PT Pertamina (Persero), said to encourage the transition to sustainable energy, Pertamina internally continues to develop technological innovations through Research & Technology Innovation (RTI). Pertamina continues to collaborate with various parties, including inviting the younger generation to play an active role in innovation and energy transition.
“Pertamina has many places for the younger generation to innovate in energy development. There are Sobat Bumi, Pertamuda, Pertamina Goes to Campus and Pertamina Xscout competitions," Oki added.
The Sobat Bumi competition focuses on discovering and developing practice through research and technology development. It is divided into two categories, the Innovation in the New Renewable Energy (EBT) category and Science Category focusing on Energy issues in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Pertamuda is a business idea competition for young Indonesian entrepreneurs related to energy and sustainable commercial value.
"In 2022, Pertamina Foundation Muda comes with digital curation, expert judges, and carries the main theme of environmental issues, aligned with the G20 climate change issue in Bali," Oki said.
"Pertamina also provides various scholarships such as Pertamina Sobat Bumi to prepare an excellent young generation," Oki said.
Lastly, Pertamina Xscout is an event for collaboration and business development cooperation between Pertamina and innovators in renewable energy, petrochemicals, and technology. The Pertamina XScout program is open throughout the year for energy start-ups. Pertamina Xscouts registration can be done via the website https://ptm.id/pertamina.xscouts.

The G20 activities in Yogyakarta, the Task Force Energy, Sustainability & Climate (ESC) took concrete actions through the collaboration of Pertamina with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Society of Renewable Energy (SRE) in the Go Gerilya Program (Solar Power Initiative Movement) by installing a Power Plant. Solar Power (PLTS) in 10 Pertamina Independent Energy Villages.**
