Chair of Task Force Energy, Sustainability, and Climate B20, Nicke Widyawati gave a speech at the "4th Task Force Energy, Sustainability & Climate Call Meeting" B20 Indonesia 2022, held online on Tuesday (24/05/2022).

Strengthen Policy Recommendations, Task Force Energy, Sustainability and Climate B20 Adds Performance and SDG's Targets

Jakarta, May 27, 2022 - Task Force Energy, Sustainability and Climate (TF ESC) B20 continues to strengthen steps to produce policy recommendations in the G20 Indonesia Presidency through a meeting entitled The Fourth Task Force Call Meeting, held online on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, based in Jakarta.

Directly led by the President Director of Pertamina, NickeWidyawati, as the Chair, this meeting was attended by 140 participants. It consists of Deputy Chair of ESC Task Force, Agung Wicaksono, Policy Manager of ESC Task Force, Oki Muraza, 8 Co-Chairs of ESC Task Force B20, and members of B20 from 19 industries and 25 countries. 

At this 4th meeting, one of the discussion focus was SDG's aspects and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) addition into policy recommendations.

"Based on the results of discussions between the Task Force and the Implementing Council, it has been agreed that all Task Force B20 need to link the SDGs goals relevant to the draft policy recommendations and develop KPIs as monitoring indicators in policy designs," said Nicke.

Moreover, Nicke also reiterated that the main objective of this forum is to ensure an inclusive process in the recommendations and policies formulation in which all members of the Task Force have the opportunity to express their outlooks.

"I hope that we can work together in formulating policy proposals that are effective and can be implemented as well as represent the business community from B20 member countries' interests," added Nicke. 

TF ESC B20 Policy Manager, Oki Muraza, explained several KPI proposals in policy recommendations expected to be indicators in monitoring the course of policy recommendations, including increasing the percentage of renewable energy from the total global energy supply and job creation related to clean energy and low emission technology.

"We have compiled this KPI considering the policies that have been made in the Italian B20 presidency by adding several aspects that follow the B20 policy recommendations this year," said Oki. 

In addition, the policy recommendations are ensured to be in line with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets, such as those related to affordable clean energy (SDG No. 7 Affordable and Clean Energy) and to climate action (SDGs No. 13 Climate Action).

On the same occasion, Deputy Chair of TF ESC, AgungWicaksono, explained that TF ESC still has 1 TF Call schedule in June 2022 as a moment to submit final policy recommendations. Agung hopes that, in this short period, TF members can continue to provide input and outlook in the policy recommendations preparation that has an impact and can be followed up by the G20 leadership.

Furthermore, he also explained several other important activities that will be held by TF ESC after the last TF Call. It includes the B20/G20 Ministerial Dialogue in July 2022, the Investment Forum titled "2nd Partners in Energy Transition" in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and The Investment Forum “SOE Trade & Investment Forum” in collaboration with the Ministry of SOEs will be held in September 2022 and closed with the B20 Summit in November 2022.**
