Providing Value for the Community, Pertamina Optimizes its Assets for Cultural Park

Palembang, July 9, 2020 - PT Pertamina (Persero) cooperates with the Regional Government to optimize assets in the Kenten Region, Palembang, South Sumatra, to add more value and maximum benefits for the community and local government.

This plan is stated in the Memorandum of Understanding between PT Pertamina (Persero) with the Palembang City Government and the South Sumatra Provincial Government to develop the Kenten Cultural Park Area on Pertamina's land in the Kenten region, Palembang City. The agreement was signed between the three parties in Palembang, South Sumatra, Thursday (9/7).

President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, explained that the assets in the Kenten area of Palembang are going to be transformed into an urban green space that can be used for recreation and sports.

"Pertamina wants to give an appreciation for the support which has been given by the people of South Sumatra, Palembang City Government, South Sumatra Provincial Government, and other related institutions.  As Pertamina Group has conducted core business activities in South Sumatra," she said.

Pertamina, added Nicke, has several vital objects in the South Sumatra region from upstream to downstream. Upstream, Pertamina has Asset 2 and a working area (WK) operated by Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE).

"Pertamina also has a Plaju refinery which is now being developed for bioenergy processing with the main ingredient of CPO," Nicke added.

In the downstream business, Pertamina also has several fuel terminals that supply energy to hundreds of gas stations throughout the South Sumatra region, which continue to provide energy services to the community. Pertamina has also built several Pertashop to serve energy in rural areas.

"In this gas city, Pertamina has also built a gas network for households and industry and businesses with pilot projects, including in Prabumulih and Palembang," said Nicke.

Pertamina, added Nicke, needs to continue to synergize with the local government so that the asset management runs well, including in the construction of Cultural Park.

According to Nicke, the new area will become a new oasis in the city of Palembang, as an urban green facility that can be enjoyed by all levels of society.

"Furthermore, this development will also provide new tourist destinations for Palembang City and support Urban Development around the region," he added.

On the same occasion, Pertamina also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of the City of Prabumulih and the Government of the Banyuasin Regency. It aims to solve the problem of existing assets in the 2 (two) regions.  Therefore, the issue can be adequately resolved; thus, it can provide maximum benefits to the people in both areas.

"This memorandum of understanding can be realized because of the support that is always given by the Governor, Mayor, and the Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)  and its staff. This shows that the synergy between the Government and BUMN has been going well for the progress of the Nation and the State, especially the people of South Sumatra," explained Nicke.

The Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Daru, stated that the agreement on the utilization of assets between the Regional Government and PT Pertamina was important for all parties, the South Sumatra Provincial Government, the local Regional Government and PT Pertamina. Therefore the legal certainty and benefits could held accountable.

According to Herman, the Asset Utilization Agreement between the Regional Government and PT Pertamina (Persero) aims to increase the effectiveness in preventing and eradicating corruption, which is one of the intervention areas, namely asset management. Therefore, today we are signing an agreement on the utilization of assets between the Regional Government and PT. Pertamina (Persero). **
