Promoting Environmentally Friendly Business, Pertamina Receives Award as a Green Business Company

Jakarta, May 24, 2023 - Pertamina's commitment to green energy development has received positive recognition in the Green Business Ratings 2023. The award ceremony, organized by CNBC Indonesia Research, evaluates companies that conduct their businesses in an environmentally friendly manner. Pertamina is recognized as a company that demonstrates concern for environmentally friendly and sustainable business practices.

Held in Jakarta on Monday, May 22, the Green Economic Forum 2023 raised the "Drive the Eco-Friendly Green Energy Revolution" theme. The event discussed green economy development in Indonesia, including planning, regulations, implementation in the field, and its impact on businesses.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, the Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), stated that Pertamina will strengthen green energy and decarbonization efforts development to support the Indonesian Government's Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060. "This recognition serves as motivation for the Pertamina Group to implement energy transition programs and achieve energy resilience in Indonesia," he said.

In line with this sentiment, Fadli Rahman, the Director of Strategic Planning & Business Development of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia, said that as a Subholding for New & Renewable Energy, the company are promoting energy transition utilization. One of the approaches is by increasing new renewable energy share in the national energy mix following the Indonesian Government's Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.

Fadli said that through this energy transition, Pertamina still utilizes fossil energy as a fuel source but applies additional formulations to make it more environmentally friendly. It includes adding bio content to fossil energy to create biofuels, as well as clean hydrogen and carbon sinks utilization.

"With these formulations, fossil energy can become more environmentally friendly. These elements will be further utilized in the future, including the current carbon trading promotion," he concluded.**
