Post Bantul Earthquake, Pertamina Ensures Energy Infrastructure is Safe

Jakarta, July 2, 2023 – Following the 6.4 magnitude Bantul earthquake occurred on Friday, June 30, 2023, Pertamina ensures the safety of all energy infrastructure in the DIY (Special Region of Yogyakarta) and Central Java regions. Pertamina also guarantees fuel, aviation turbine fuel (avtur), and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) smooth distribution.

Pertamina has inspected the distribution channels' facilities in earthquake-affected areas such as the City of Yogyakarta, Gunung Kidul, Kulon Progo, Solo Raya, Wonogori, Kebumen, and Cilacap, all of which are still operating smoothly. Pertamina has also ensured that the fuel and LPG terminals in Rewulu, Maos, Lomanis, and Cilacap are safe. Similarly, the Cilacap Refinery Unit IV is safe and still operating.

Vice President of Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that Pertamina has swiftly taken action to ensure all units and operational areas’ safety in the DIY, Central Java, and East Java regions to guarantee a secure energy supply.

"All energy facilities in the DIY, Central Java, and up to East Java regions are safe. The stock of fuel, LPG, and avtur is also sufficient, so the public does not need to worry," said Fadjar.

At the same time, Fadjar added that Pertamina is coordinating with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DIY and related agencies to assist the earthquake-affected communities.

Pertamina has assisted in the form of food supplies such as rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, and canned sardines. Moreover, Bright Gas cylinders in 5.5 kg and 12 kg sizes have been provided for cooking needs at evacuation sites. Other aid includes cement and roofing tiles. These assistance items have been distributed to the Refugee Posts in Pacarejo Village, Semanu District, Gunung Kidul Regency.
