Pertamina Wins 5 International Awards in Sustainability Competition in Taiwan

Jakarta, November 16, 2023 – PT Pertamina (Persero) achieved five international awards at the Global Corporate Sustainability Awards (GCSA) 2023 organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE). GCSA is an award platform recognizing companies, organizations, and individuals for their efforts in sustainability through Sustainability Reports.

GCSA has been recognized as a prestigious competition due to its global and competitive scope, as well as its panel of professional, credible, and independent judges in the sustainability field from various countries. The judging panel includes representatives from the Center for Corporate Sustainability, S&P Global – ESG Department, CSRWorks International, PWC – Climate Department, EY – Climate Change & Sustainability Department, and various universities and Sustainability Research Centers.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, revealed that Pertamina secured five awards at GCSA 2023. These include the Sustainability Reporting Award with the "Silver Class of 2023" predicate for the 2022 Sustainability Report of PT Pertamina (Persero), as well as four "Best Practice Award: Great Practice Award of 2023" accolades achieved by PT Pertamina EP Donggi Matindok Field, Pertamina EP Sukowati Field, Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, and DPPU Adi Soemarmo Solo.

"These awards reflect Pertamina's commitment to managing environmentally friendly and sustainable business practices that align with global standards and are recognized for their positive implementation and impact," said Fadjar.

Fadjar added that through Pertamina's Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL), Pertamina continues to improve the lives of communities and the environment around the company's operational areas to support sustainable business operations.

Furthermore, Fadjar emphasized that Pertamina runs programs like Kokolomboi Lestari, Peduli Kasih Pesut Mahakam Conservation, and Tanjungsari Agro-Culture, which are appreciated globally.

For instance, the Tanjungsari Agro-Culture program has been implemented in Dukuh Tanjungsari, Village Ngesrep, Ngemplak Boyolali District for three years. This program, as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, focuses on empowering women through economic interconnected activities within the community.

"We hope to continuously strengthen the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles not only in our operations across all business lines but also in driving the economy within communities and the country. Thus, Pertamina aims to have a positive contribution to emission reduction and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement," explained Fadjar.
