Pertamina Voluntary Days 2022, Visit the Independent Energy Village in Kutawaru, Cilacap

Cilacap, November 30, 2022 – The Independent Energy Village in Kutawaru Village, Central Cilacap District, became one of the Pertamina 2022 Voluntary Days program object visits, Friday (25/11/2022). The program with the "Perwira Penggerak - Energizing your Life" theme is part of Pertamina's (Persero) 65th Anniversary commemoration.

Voluntary Days 2022 is Pertamina officers' contribution to help the community in overcoming social and environmental problems. "This activity has a positive impact on improving the community's economy, following the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement and in line with the company's commitment to implement Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)," said Fajriyah Usman, VP of CSR & SMEPP of Pertamina (Persero).

Pertamina Independent Energy Village offers New Renewable Energy (NRE) solutions for the community in increasing energy needs challenges. "Carrying the nationalism spirit, we collaborate with various parties. Taking into account that accesses to clean energy is the basis for sustainable economic development and community empowerment and following the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 12, and 13 as well as the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) 2060 target," said Fajriyah.

She continued that in KepitingVillage, Kutawaru, Solar Photovoltaic (PV) energy is utilized for economic activities, such as hydroponic irrigation and vegetable banks, electronic freezer energy for storing fish and crabs, and lighting energy for group operations. "The total installed energy is 6 kWh per year with an installed solar PV capacity of 6.6 kWp, a carbon emission reduction of 8,580 kg CO2 equivalent per year, and a savings value of IDR 13 million per year," said Fajriyah.

The Regent of Cilacap, Yunita Dyah Suminar, through the Assistant Regional Secretary for Economics and Development, M. Wijaya, appreciated Pertamina's contribution in providing clean energy both in Kutawaru and Cilacap Regency. "Hopefully, this program will continue to be improved and reach a wider area. Kutawaru residents are expected to participate in all activities and directions for the Independent Energy Village program because it is very beneficial for the community," he explained.

Director of HR of Pertamina (Persero), M. Erry Sugiharto, said the Voluntary Days in Cilacap were held for three days by involving the community through various activities. Among them are the MSME bazaars assisted by RU IV, education on NRE utilization and care, groceries distribution, revitalization of tourist village locations review, mangroves planting, education on maternal and child health, and supplementary food provision. "Moreover, (there are) workshops on processing waste into economic value goods, workshops on the success stories of Pertamina-assisted MSMEs, construction of MCK facilities, and educational and children's play facilities," he said.

Apart from Kepiting Village, a series of Voluntary Days were held at the Segara Anakan Cilacap Lagoon Conservation Arboretum (Kolak Sekancil) in Lempong Pucung Hamlet, as well as the Energy Independent Village in Bondan Hamlet, Ujung Alang Village, Kampung Laut District, Cilacap.

It is hoped that various parties' involvement will significantly contribute to the sustainability of a better future generation, as well as solutions to community needs. "Furthermore, we hope Pertamina's contribution can have a big impact on the economy and society, as our spirit is, Energizing your future," added Erry.

The activity was also attended by Expert Staff for Strategic Planning of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yudo Dwinanda Priaadi; Pertamina Group management; Corporate Secretary of Pertamina (Persero), Brahmantya S. Poerwadi; GM RU IV, Edy Januari Utama and management; as well as related Cilacap Regency Government officials.**
