Pertamina Synergy Realize Energy Independent Farmers

Cilacap, June 24, 2022 – PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) RU IV Cilacap synergizes with the Pertamina Foundation (PF) and the Politeknik Negeri Cilacap(PNC) to create energy-independent farmers through Solar Home System (SHS) technology in Kalijaran, Maos District, Cilacap. It  uses technology which converts solar into electrical energy to run groundwater pumps for irrigation.

The Finance Director of the Pertamina Foundation, Medianto T. Hermawan, gave symbolic technology to the local farmer group's representative witnessed by VP of Community Empowerment, Environment, and Sports of Pertamina, Abdul Aziz; Area Manager Commrel & CSR of PT KPI RU IV, Cecep Supriyatna; Director of PNC, Aris Tjahyanto and Kades Kalijaran, Sudarsono, Wednesday (15/6/2022).

Abdul Aziz appreciated the new renewable energy (NRE) technology developed by PNC and used in the PT KPI RU IV Cilacap work area. "So it can be a mutually beneficial synergy. Being support for Proper & CSR PT KPI RU IV, supporting the PNC campus community service program and giving benefit to the community," he said.

Meanwhile, Medianto revealed that the SHS technology designed by the PNC is one of the winning technologies for the NRE-based technology innovation competition from the 2022 PFSains Program. "The competition held by the Pertamina Foundation aims to appreciate energy practitioners who are concerned with developing and creating environmentally friendly, clean energy-based technological innovations can be achieved by all groups," Medianto explained.

Area Manager of Communications, Relations & CSR of PT KPI RU IV, Cecep Supriyatna, fully supports EBT technology in Kailjaran Village's rice fields. "Aligned with our commitment to develop NRE, this technology opens development opportunities in other areas with the rice field character," he said.

Team 14 Leader of PNC's PFSains 2022 Program, Afrizal Abdi Musyafiq, said SHS is a technology that converts sunlight into electrical energy to run groundwater pumps for irrigation. “The water discharge from this pump reaches 10 thousand liters. SHS is environment friendly and produces good air quality because the air produced will return to the ground. Thus, it does not reduce the air supply," he wrote.

With a battery life of 8 to 10 years, this technology can operate for up to ten years. "On the other hand, this technology still requires further development in terms of security, such as an additional hazard system," Afrizal concluded.**
