Pertamina Provides 50 MSME Booths at the Grand Prix of Indonesia to Encourage Multiplier Effect

Jakarta, March 18, 2022 – PT Pertamina (Persero) has provided 50 free booths for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to serve the needs of the spectators at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia which will be held on March 18-20,2022, at the Pertamina Mandalika circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

It is to realize one of Pertamina's support goals at the international event, which is to encourage a positive multiplier effect for the economy in Mandalika and Indonesia.

VP of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero) Fajriyah Usman explained that the MSMEs involved were local MSMEs from NTB and its surroundings. After the curation process, the products will be exhibited and sold to visitors.

"Currently, Pertamina is conducting the curation, which is the selection and assessment process of MSMEs involved in this MotoGP activity. We provide opportunities for MSME actors in NTB to become tenants at this booth to strengthen our support for the local economic growth," added Fajriyah.

This activity is a series of MSME empowerment activities within Pertamina's TJSL to support the success of the MotoGP Pertamina Grand Prix Indonesia. Previously, Pertamina had collaborated with the NTB Provincial Government and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) to hold a business meeting for MSME players with potential buyers of the hospitality industry around the DPSP Mandalika area.

"The effects of international scale activities such as MotoGP are broad. The main goal is to revive the economy in Indonesia, especially NTB. Hopefully, this activity will later become an embryo for a strong ecosystem creation between supply and demand of the tourism sector in Mandalika as one of the DPSPs," said Fajriyah.

Indonesia has been facing difficult times for almost two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 2022 is expected to be a golden year for business people, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. The momentum of the Mandalika MotoGP is anticipated to encourage MSME actors in Indonesia. It can even be utilized to attract investors.

Pertamina continues to encourage its MSMEs to increase access and promote MSME products both domestically and abroad. One of the efforts is to invite MSME actors to start marketing their products digitally through the internet, television, and other computer networks.

Until 2021, Pertamina has had 4,047 Go Digital MSMEs and made the COVID-19 momentum the trigger, connected directly to the digital ecosystem by utilizing e-commerce platforms and marketplaces.

Digitalization is the key for MSMEs to survive during the pandemic. Pertamina continues to make efforts so that all its MSMEs can immediately go digital in collaboration with various parties in creating digital programs and training. "It is hoped that MSMEs can immediately seize these opportunities, learn and apply them to the business they are running until they eventually turn digital," concluded Fajriyah.

Pertamina supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) achievement by implementing ESG-based (Environmental, Social, and Governance) programs in all its operational areas. It is part of Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) to realize economic benefits for the community.

Through MSME programs and the spirit of Energizing Your Future, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can move the economy--energy that fuels and produces sustainable growth and strive to encourage every Foster Partner to become an upgraded and global MSME.**
