Pertamina Inaugurates Lubricants Technology Center, Indonesia's Largest Lubricant Research and Innovation Center

Jakarta, May 30, 2023 - PT Pertamina Lubricants (PTPL), Pertamina's Commercial & Trading Subholding’s subsidiary, officially inaugurated the Lubricants Technology Center (LTC) today. LTC is the largest lubricant research and innovation center in Indonesia, located in Plumpang, North Jakarta. Covering an area of 12,500 m², LTC is equipped with modern facilities and a team of professional human resources to fulfill the lubricant needs in the Indonesian market and 14 countries worldwide, including Australia, Thailand, and South Africa.

"LTC will drive the realization of our aspiration to become a leading lubricant company; the Leading Asian Champion, with more adaptive, responsive, and flexible products and services for various automotive and industrial applications," said the President Director of PTPL, Werry Prayogi.

LTC serves as an integrated technological hub, combining product research and development activities with after-sales services, including:

  • Product Research and Development Laboratory to support applied research on additive technology selection, lubricant product formulation, and specialty chemicals;
  • Oil Clinic Laboratory for comprehensive oil analysis and monitoring, supported by experienced technical support;
  • Integrated Lubrication Management Academy (ILMA) with educational and training facilities for customers.

The laboratory activities at LTC adhere to the international standards of the American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM). Moreover, both laboratories at LTC are ISO 17025:2017 certified by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN).

LTC addresses the challenges posed by the rapid growth of various sectors in Indonesia, which resulted in an increased demand for quality lubricants.

Furthermore, Werry stated that lubricant consumers now have sufficient knowledge, demanding Pertamina Lubricants to provide additional benefits such as fuel economy and engine protection. In lubricants utilization for business operations, Pertamina's lubricants also enhance efficiency and productivity for customers’ operations.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, the VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, expressed that in the future, LTC is expected to become a center for lubricant and specialty chemical development, including addressing the need for more environmentally friendly lubricants.
