Pertamina Gas Negara Introduces Eco-Friendly and Affordable "Gasku" BBG at IIMS 2024

Jakarta, February 16, 2024 - As Pertamina's Gas Sub-holding, PT PGN Tbk once again presents GasKu products, namely Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-based vehicle fuel, at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024. GasKu is a gas fuel (BBG) products brand managed by a subsidiary of PGN, PT Gagas Energi Indonesia ("Gagas").

"GasKu is a product created by Gas SH to support the government's program regarding the conversion from gasoline to BBG. This product is also more environmentally friendly and can be an alternative low-emission vehicle energy source. Compared to other fossil fuels, GasKu emits 25-35 percent less," said the Director of Infrastructure and Technology of PGN, Harry Budi Sidharta, during his visit to the Pertamina Booth at IIMS 2024 on February 15, 2024.

GasKu customers are predominantly public transportation such as auto-rickshaws, minivans, city buses, taxis, and government-owned and regional government-operated vehicles. The benefit of using GasKu, which emits lower emissions, can make engines cleaner. Additionally, there is no pungent smoke smell.

"We will support various parties interested in benefiting from BBG utilization by operating BBG filling facilities optimally. For instance, Blue Bird, a conventional taxi company, operates some of its fleet using gas as fuel due to its environmentally friendly, safe, and economical nature. There are also several online taxi drivers and other public transportation such as blue auto-rickshaws," said Corporate Secretary of PGN, Rachmat Hutama, during a Press Conference at the Pertamina Booth at IIMS 2024.

In addition to being more environmentally friendly, GasKu utilization is also more efficient at IDR 4,500 per Liter Equivalent to Premium (LSP), with gas sourced domestically, making it more affordable. Customers can save around 50% on energy costs. The performance of using GasKu is equivalent to using gasoline in motor vehicles.

Currently, Pertamina is moving towards ESG and NZE by introducing environmentally friendly energies, one of which is gas fuel. "It is time to fill the energy transition towards NZE using these environmentally friendly energies," added Rachmat.

GasKu can be applied to vehicles equipped with a converter kit, allowing them to use gasoline and BBG interchangeably (with a switch/dual fuel), reducing concerns if BBG runs out midway. Converter kit installation can be done at certified installation workshops, such as Autogas Indonesia Workshop in Taman Tekno BSD, South Tangerang, and Raja Rafa Samudra Workshop in Pondok Gede, East Jakarta.

"Using BBG for vehicles does not mean replacing the engine. There is a switcher, so the vehicle can still use gasoline. Adding BBG to vehicles will support their mileage and support Pertamina's 'blue sky' program to achieve Net Zero Emission," explained the CEO of Gagas, Muhammad Hardiansyah.

One CNG gas tank can be filled with gas up to 15 liters. It takes 1-2 minutes to fill the gas. The total average number of vehicles filling GasKu at all SPBG and MRU Gagas locations reaches 2016 units per day.

Currently, BBG filling stations are available in Jakarta, Bekasi, Bogor, Semarang, Palembang, Balikpapan, Subang, Prabumulih, Sukabumi, Purwakarta, Serang, Cilegon, Lampung, Batam, Surabaya, Gresik, and Bandung. The total number of Pertamina Group's SPBG & MRU stations is 72.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that in the energy transition era, Pertamina also promotes gas as a low-emission transitional fuel that can be used to support the public transportation sector.

"Gas utilization can contribute to reducing carbon emissions, which is Pertamina's commitment to achieving the Net Zero Emission target," emphasized Fadjar.**
