Pertamina and Pelindo Join Forces to Develop Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal Kalibaru

Jakarta, September 2, 2023 - Pertamina, through its subsidiary PT Pertamina International Shipping, and PT Pelindo have signed a collaboration agreement for the Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal (JIGT) development in Kalibaru, North Jakarta, on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

The development collaboration for JIGT was signed by the President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), Yoki Firnandi, and Director of Strategy of Pelindo, Prasetyo, in the presence of Deputy Minister I of State-Owned Enterprises, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Deputy Minister II of State-Owned Enterprises, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development (SPPU) of Pertamina, A. Salyadi Saputra, and President Director of Pelindo, Arif Suhartono.

Deputy Minister I of State-Owned Enterprises, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, expressed appreciation for the synergy between these two state-owned enterprises. He emphasized that the JIGT construction would serve as a crucial infrastructure for future renewable energy development.

"JIGT will accommodate a variety of green products managed in an environmentally friendly manner and is expected to become a flagship project for Pertamina and Pelindo," he stated.

It was also emphasized by the President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, who explained that JIGT would be built to modern and environmentally friendly standards, making it the most advanced terminal in Indonesia. Located in Kalibaru, this terminal will also be larger and complement the Integrated Terminal Plumpang, which currently serves as the backbone of petroleum infrastructure in Western Java.

"Jakarta Integrated Green Terminal in Kalibaru is designed following the energy transition trend and the future green energy business development of Pertamina, as well as being an energy terminal with the best operational standards," Nicke said.

Nicke added that JIGT would not only store fuels like LPG, gasoline, and biodiesel but would also be designed to accommodate LNG, CPO, UCO (Used Cooking Oil), and petrochemical products.

"JIGT is also designed to anticipate the increasing energy demands following the national economic growth targets," Nicke emphasized.

Meanwhile, Yoki Firnandi, President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), noted that in its implementation, JIGT would be built and managed by PIS as the Integrated Marine Logistics Sub-holding, which has a longstanding focus on strategic energy terminals management.

JIGT is being constructed in the area developed by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) in the Kalibaru region of North Jakarta. It is a population-free zone located along the waterfront with deep-sea berths capable of accommodating large vessels. With an area spanning 64 hectares, JIGT is projected to have a storage capacity of up to 6.3 million barrels.

The terminal's construction is planned based on the national energy demand, which is expected to continuously increase and diversify over the coming years.

The location of JIGT is strategically positioned to serve as the gateway to the energy trading ecosystem through the Singapore-Indonesia corridor, which accounts for 30%-35% of global trade routes for oil and LNG.

"In its construction, JIGT will incorporate ESG aspects and emissions-free practices. The terminal will be operated with a digital system for enhanced safety, reliability, and efficiency," Yoki conveyed.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
