More Reliable, Walio PIS Gas Ship Transports Ammonia to Europe

Jakarta, July 29, 2022 - The MT Gas Walio tanker owned by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) continues to threaten the global logistics distribution chain. The 11-year-old ship delivers ammonia (NH3) cargo to Europe.

This time, PIS collaborated with Mitsui Group to deliver Ammonia from Bontang to Lisbon, Portugal.

“It is an honor for PIS to be trusted by Mitsui as a multinational company to transport ammonia goods from Bontang in East Kalimantan to Lisbon, in Portugal. PIS certainly provides the best services to be trusted in one of the gas commodities logistics distribution," said VP of Sales and Marketing of PIS, Muhamad Resa, Wednesday (26/7).

The PIS cooperation contract with Mitsui to deliver ammonia for a period of 60 days to 240 days was signed on July 5, 2022. Previously, the ship carrying 15,000 MT also transported ammonia to several regions in Asia, Middle East, to Scandinavia.

This ammonia transportation is proof of PIS cargo expansion to work on new business potentials. That encourage companies to become prominent in Asia by supporting operations and provide excellent services for customers as a sustainable form of the energy transition program by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (KESDM).

"This is a step to realize the vision as Asia's Leading Shipping Company by bringing ships to transport to parts of the world, with various types of cargo," added Arief Sukmara, Commercial Director of PIS.

PIS ensures that the MT Gas Walio ship applies high safety standards and meets the Ship Inspection Report Program (SIRE) standards. The inspection reviews the ship's cargo system, engine room, navigation equipment, fire fighting system, and safety equipment by certified experts proven by the SIRE Report document on MT Gas Walio on The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) website on March 28, 2022.

It proves that MT Gas Walio is certified with the standards and requirements that applies in the international shipping industry.
