Emergency Team Extinguished the Fire in 3 Hours, Fuel Distribution Back in Operation

Jakarta, March 4, 2023 - Pertamina's collaboration with the North Jakarta City Fire and Rescue Service (Damkar Sub-Department) in handling the fire in the fuel receiving pipeline area of the Plumpang Integrated Terminal managed to extinguish the fire in about 3 (three) hours.

Since the discovery of a leak in the fuel receiving pipe at 19.33 WIB and followed by a fire in a residential area, Pertamina immediately declared an emergency status. With cooperation and assistance from various parties, the emergency team managed to extinguish the fire at 22.43 WIB.

"After the location's condition was declared safe, the emergency status was revoked and the fuel distribution was resumed at 04.00 WIB. Thus, the fuel supply was not disrupted," said Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero).

Even though the emergency status has been lifted, continued Fadjar, Pertamina is still anticipating fuel needs in the Greater Jakarta area and its surroundings by transferring supply from the Tanjung Gerem Fuel Terminal, Cikampek Fuel Terminal, and Ujung Berung Fuel Terminal. To strengthen the supply, fuel distribution is also carried out from the Balongan Refinery and Cilacap Refinery by sea to the Tanjung Priok Fuel Terminal.

"Efforts to transfer this supply are needed to ensure that the fuel supply is still fulfilled for the residents,"

Fadjar also said that in parallel, Pertamina is dealing with the impact that occurred from the incident, especially for the affected residents. Early in the morning logistical assistance was distributed to four shelter posts. Namely, the Koramil Post, the Tugu Selatan Lurah Office Post, the Rasela Rawa Badak RPTRA Post, and the Rawa Badak Selatan Village Office. There are 60 boxes of mineral water, 200 ready-to-eat food packages, 1,000 snacks, and hundreds of mattresses, blankets, and masks.

"Assistance will continue at each post according to the affected residents in evacuation locations' needs," he added.

As for the victims, Pertamina is still collecting data in collaboration with officials and related parties to determine the number of victims affected.

"Pertamina is fully committed to providing the best treatment for residents, both those who have passed away, injured residents in hospitals, and residents in evacuation locations," he conveyed.**
