Committed to Support Domestic Start-Ups, Pertamina Holds Pertamuda: Seed & Scale Up 2022

Jakarta, August 16, 2022 - Pertamina holds another Pertamuda: Seed & Scale Up 2022 event. The kick-off program for the young entrepreneur business idea competition held for the second time, is Pertamina's commitment to support start-up development in Indonesia expected to impact economic development and social welfare.

This activity was opened directly by the President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, in South Jakarta on Monday (15/8/2022). In her speech, Nicke said that Pertamuda is Pertamina's support as an SOE to the younger generation to improve entrepreneurial skills through mentoring to generate business ideas.

"Why are we pushing this? Because during the pandemic, we saw these new business ideas increase because these young people can implement new technologies and digitalization,” said Nicke.

Nicke said, as a driving force for the national economy, Pertamina also seeks to develop the economy to improve people's welfare, one of which is by supporting start-ups in the country. Thus, Pertamina encourages start-ups to get facilities for growth and development.

Moreover, Nicke hopes that the Pertamuda program will give birth to more start-ups, as well as be able to absorb a lot of workers. Pertamina is committed to continue sustainably implementing this program while expanding its scope. Therefore, there will be more business ideas from the youth and give birth to new entrepreneurs for a better Indonesia in the future.

"The more employment, the better. So that the government's task in this sustainable development goals can be achieved," stated Nicke.

Meanwhile, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina, Brahmantya Satyamurti Poerwadi, added that Pertamuda 2022 has a wider scope. If last year only involved State Universities (PTN), this year also included Private Universities (PTS) in Indonesia.

"We want to expand this activity, so it becomes the SDGs implementation, which follows the three SDGs pillars. Namely economic, social, and environmental with the potential for growth of up to ten times in three years," said Brahmantya.

Furthermore, Brahmantya hopes that through this activity, Pertamina can strengthen the synergy between universities and industry, as well as encourage young entrepreneurs' growth in Indonesia, which provides space and opportunities for students to work on and develop their business ideas.

To take part in the Pertamuda young entrepreneur business idea competition: Seed & Scale Up 2022, the requirements are as follows: Indonesian citizen and have an ID card, D3/D4/S1 students in Indonesia, have a letter of recommendation from campus, and submit a business idea to www.pertamuda.id. Registration is open from August 15, 2022, to October 10, 2022.**
