30 Pertamuda Seed & Scale Business Idea Competition Participants Advance to Demo-Day Stage

Jakarta, November 13, 2023 – The PT Pertamina (Persero) business idea competition, Pertamuda Seed & Scale, has entered a new phase. Selected through a strict curation and selection process, 30 participants from 21 State and Private Universities in Indonesia are getting ready for the Demo-Day stage.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, revealed that out of 2,719 applicants, 30 participants have unique business ideas that would benefit the industry, especially in the new energy future.

"The business ideas generated follow Pertamuda's mission to build and nurture the young startup generations' spirit, creating sustainable business ownership and job creation opportunities. This effort is done to support sustainable development in Indonesia," Fadjar explained.

Demo-Day will take place at the end of November 2023, followed by the Final Pitch and business matching, featuring a more refined participant’s selection: 10 finalists for the Early Stage Startups category and five for the Energy Founder category.

The finalists will present their programs to a panel of judges, including Pertamina's management and several prominent investors.

Zulfikar, Secretary of the Business Incubator at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Lhokseumawe, expressed gratitude when his student passed the curation and advanced to Demo-Day. "This achievement is extraordinary and prideful for us, considering there are thousands of participants, including those from various top universities in Indonesia," said Zulfikar.

Zulfikar also appreciates Pertamina for organizing Pertamuda. He hopes the initiative can be sustainable because, besides providing a platform for student expression, it also encourages the growth of an entrepreneurial spirit.

IAIN Lhokseumawe is one of the campuses with selected participants. This year's Pertamuda event marks the first time for IAIN Lhokseumawe and, indeed, for higher education institutions in the Aceh Province to reach the Demo-Day stage.

Meanwhile, Laa Roybafyh from Gadjah Mada University is intensifying preparations for the Pertamuda 2023 event. In 2021, she participated in Pertamuda but failed to reach the Top 3. "Being part of Pertamuda brings many benefits related to business-building knowledge. I am pleased to meet other innovators and gain insights from mentors," said La Roybafyh, who is presenting the 'Water Coin' innovation this time.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
