Universitas Pertamina Collaboration and ADPMET Improve the Quality of Young Human Resources and NRE Research

JAKARTA - As a technology and energy business campus, Universitas Pertamina cooperates with the Association of Oil and Gas and Renewable Energy Producing Regions (ADPMET). The cooperation is organizing thematic educational, research, and community service activities, especially in renewable energy development.

“This is a very strategic collaboration, both for Universitas Pertamina in particular and for the sustainability of renewable energy development in realizing national energy security. We have expert lecturers in the energy field who can be encouraged to conduct research and community service activities in energy-producing areas,” said Prof. I.G.N. Wiratmaja Puja, Ph.D., at the signing ceremony at Gedung Sate, Bandung, on Saturday, November 27, 2021.

This collaboration, continued Wirat, is also expected to help the community’s welfare in oil and gas producing areas. “Both parties have also agreed to distribute the scholarships to the youth in regional from ADPMET members. So, in the future, we hope to create better human resources who will manage the energy potential in ADPMET,” said Wirat.

In his remarks on signing the cooperation agreement and giving an expert lecture entitled ‘Cipta Karsa,’ the Governor of West Java and General Chair of ADPMET, Dr. (H.C.) H. Mochamad Ridwan Kamil, S.T., MUD, appreciated the collaboration. “This collaboration is expected to be a pioneer of thematic penta helix cooperation in alleviating social problems in society. This collaboration between the government, academia, the business world, the community, and the media will accelerate the realization of the nation’s ideals, namely Indonesian Unity,” said Ridwan Kamil.

In developing renewable energy, continued Ridwan, ADPMET members have continuously made various efforts. “In West Java, for example, Kampung Adat Ciptagelar, located in the Sukamulya area, Sirnaresmi Village, Cisolok District, is an energy-independent village. In this village, the river has a high discharge. So, we gave a Micro-hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) grant. As a result, the community gets the electricity from renewable energy,” said Ridwan.

This kind of renewable energy development, according to Ridwan, is what he wants to promote. Therefore, the cooperation between ADPMET and Universitas Pertamina is expected to be a gateway for the utilization of renewable energy potential in the areas of ADPMET members. At the end of his speech, Ridwan also told Universitas Pertamina’s students always to maintain a peaceful democracy and urged students to be competitive individuals in advancing the Indonesian economy.

Support for renewable energy development at Universitas Pertamina is implemented through various lectures, research, and community service activities. In lectures, for example, Universitas Pertamina has several courses that focus on renewable energy. In addition, the lecturers and students also have some thematic research and community services specified in the development of renewable energy.

Universitas Pertamina also encourages the research to be included in various competitions. Some examples of student innovations in the NRE field that won awards include: making capacitors as electricity storage by utilizing Salak skins waste which won 2nd place in the 2021 National Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres Nas) LLDIKTI Region III Level; and geothermal field development, which won 1st place in the Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade (OGIP). *UP
