Go Green, Pertamina EP Cepu Plants Thousands of Rain Trees

JAKARTA -- Support the Go Green Movement, Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC), Zone 12 of Pertamina Subholding Upstream Eastern Indonesia Region, is actively held environmentally friendly activities, including climate change action through reforestation programs. PEPC has planted 25,000 rain trees through this program since 2018 and continues until now. From this amount, about 45,000 tons of carbon CO2 were absorbed.

Reflecting on this program's benefits, in 2021, PEPC will plant an additional 9,000 trees. The rain trees will be planted around the Jambaran Tiung Biru project area along the Bojonegoro-Ngawi road, district roads, and several water reservoirs.

In addition, through the Community Empowerment Program (PPM), PEPC collaborates with a state-owned forestry company (Perhutani) and forest land farmers who are members of the Forest Village Community Association (LMDH). Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Bussiness (SKK Migas) also supports the program from 2019-2021, and it successfully runs a forest area-based agroforestry program. In this agroforestry activity, PEPC and LMDH have planted 2,500 longan trees.

At the same time, PEPC has also developed a Green School Program in nine schools around the operational area. The activities of this program are the establishment of an environmentally-based working group, assistance in hydroponic/aeroponic planting in the school environment, and the Go Green School campaign.

According to Edy Purnomo, Manager of Jambaran Tiung Biru Site Office & PGA PEPC, these programs are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and curb global warming. "Of course, this contribution is expected to help reduce the risks and impacts of climate change on our earth," said Edy. *SHU-PEPC
