Pertamina Increase Biodiesel Mixture to 7.5%
22 Februari 2012
15:35 WIB
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) increases the content of Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) added into Biodiesel products from 5% to 7.5% as part of Pertamina's contribution to National Energy Policy aiming at increasing the utilization of new energy and renewable energy.
The increase of FAME content in Biodiesel from 5% to 7.5% has exceed the required value set by the government, as stipulated in the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministerial Decree No. 32/2008 on the supply, use, and sale of biofuel as an alternative form of energy. Based on the Ministerial Decree, all business entities have the obligation to add 2.5% biofuel (BBN) into PSO transportation petrol fuel (BBM).
"As of 15 February, we have increased the content of FAME in Biodiesel products from originally 5% to 7.5%. This step is part of Pertamina's compliance to government policy to optimize the usage of biofuel following National Energy Policy to increase the portion of new renewable energy used," Vice President Corporate Communication of Pertamina Mochamad Harun said.
The incorporation of FAME is also beneficial to restrain diesel import for subsidized BBM stock. The State Budget 2012 has set the quota for biodiesel-type of BBN to be 722,000 kiloliter. On the other side, increase in FAME usage is a good news for related-downstream industries.
"Pertamina prioritizes national FAME suppliers who utilize domestic resources so that indirectly Pertamina is participating in supporting the grow of FAME producing industries and create more job opportunities," he said.
