Mother's Day
22 Desember 2010
04:58 WIB

Jakarta, 22 Desember 2010 | 07.15 WIB
Alhamdulillah, Praise to God the Almighty, who never stopped bestow His blessings and gifts to us all. On this day, December 22, 2010, we gather together to re-mark the national day that has significance in the history of this nation. Days where we all gather to honor, remember, understand, and appreciate the role of women to the Indonesian nation.
As we all know, the struggle of women in the days before independence was not easy. In addition to not a few of the women who must go down into battle with the men, but also the fate of women in those days still fettered by limitations in obtaining their rights to equality and equal to men. Difficult times of women in the fight for gender equality that has been initiated since 82 years ago through the first Indonesian Women's Congress in Yogyakarta, finally bearing fruit. Currently, Indonesian women have been able to stand parallel and equal to men. Not least among women in Indonesia could become an important figure and also an inspiration not only for women, but also for men.
To all Pertamina employees that I am proud of,
Talking about gender equality in Pertamina, I am proud to say that Pertamina is a company that could become an example that gender is not a problem anymore for this nation to move forward. While in the other hemisphere, even in some areas in the country, many women are still had to struggle to obtain their rights. Rejection of the role of women in public spaces, lack of concern for maternal and child health, occupational health rights issues and labor protections are among many problems that remain to be dealth with and faced by women in this country. Therefore, it is an important record for Pertamina, the company that is easily identified as the world of men, have a chance to lead by a woman.Pertamina is the pioneer and should become a model for other state-owned companies in this country for the implementation of equal treatment of anyone without any consideration of gender. Even should I say, world-class oil companies like Saudi Aramco are interested in learning about gender equality in the world oil and gas from Pertamina.
Nevertheless, it is far more important than the gender issue is that we all, all elements of Pertamina employees must have a common determination to provide the best for the company. Both men and women workers must collectively work hard to achieve the own work objectives in effort to fulfill our goal in becoming world-class national oil company that we can hasten its realization.
All workers, women in Pertamina, which I'm proud of,
On this occasion, in particular we would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for the active role of the wives of workers who joined in the Patra Women's Union (PWP). It must be realized together, that the PWP and the Pertamina worker's wife, has contributed to the successful transformation of Pertamina, particularly for assisting and providing encouragement to the male workers to achieve the best performance, including contributing in managing family life, and other activities as a manifestation in service to the community.
Workers of Pertamina who I am proud of,
In commemoration of the 82nd Mother's Day I would like to invite us all, for a contemplation, introspection, and evaluation of what we have carried out related to the role, duties and responsibilities of each of us. To the husbands who worked at Pertamina, we must remember, that we can not deny the importart role of mothers in household management, raising and educating our children, as well as providing full encouragement to their husbands to improve the work performance that will give positive impact for the company.
As for women workers in Pertamina, is obligatory for all mothers to carry on their rightful duty as a housewife without having to reduce their spirit to continue in working in Pertamina. As for the workers' wives and mothers of my beloved PWP, we women have a moral obligation, to constantly remind their husbands and educate our children as the successor of this nation to always uphold integrity in every opportunity. With a strong foundation of integrity, Hopefully, the husbands and our children, the future successor of this nation will be far from inappropriate behavior, dangers of corruption, and more broadly will provide the best benefit for the nation and state.
To Women workers of Pertamina in all corners of the country that I am proud of,
In relation with the things that I mentioned at the top, as the national theme of this year 82nd Mother's Day that emphasized the importance of "Equality of Women and Men for their roles in nations character building to achieve a healthy & dignified society," then it is appropriate that, as a state-owned company, we should help the government to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), especially on Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women.
Pertamina once had a great accomplishment when successfully achieve the MDG's Award in the category of Reducing Child Mortality which contributed positively to improving the health of mother and child through the program Pertamina Sehati (Healthy Mothers and Children). Our management team would want for the future, programs like this will remain a mainstay for Pertamina to be able to demonstrate a more active role for the advancement of women in the homeland.
Finally, I invite us all, for this Mother's Day commemoration, both women and men of Pertamina's continuous determination to close ranks and unite together to eliminate all forms of gender violence, whether against women or against men . Whether in the workplace or within the family, community, nation and state.
Obviously, it will become the pride of us all, that when the time comes, Pertamina will become a World Class National Oil Company, which not only known for its prowess in managing its core business in oil and gas, but also famous for having a strong commitment in the effort to campaign and accomplish the Millennium Development Goals, including goal number three: Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women. Because in this state-owned company, in the national oil and gas company where we make a living at this time, the rise of women to national oil and gas industry in particular, has been evident.
Finally, to the mother and women, I say "Happy Mother's Day", hopefully, this occasion that we celebrate today, would increase our fighting spirit to improve the quality of life of women, to remove discrimination against women and men, so that both women and men will get justice and to participate and contribute to provide the best for this nation. May God the Almighty, always bless our steps that we take today and in the future.
Thank you, Billahitaufik walhidayah, wassalamualaikum warahmatullahiwabarakatuh
