Massa’s appointment is stated in a decree No. SK-52 / MBU / 03/2017, dated March 16th, 2017 concerning the appointment of President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero).
The Decree submission is submitted directly by Gatot Trihargo Deputy for Financial Services, Consulting Services Survey and Ministry of SOEs Consulting at 11:49 A.M. at the Ministry of SOEs Office.
The appointment of Elia Massa Manik is expected to meet the shareholders expectations to support Nawacita goal by President Joko Widodo in the energy sector, especially in achieving and maintaining national energy independence. Moreover, Elia is also expected to continue Pertamina’s transformation trend to face global situation which still volatile.
In his first speech in Pertamina, Massa claimed his main focus is strengthen the human resources at Pertamina, by fostering positive company culture. Efficiency that which successfully maintain Pertamina's performance in the last two years also become his concern.
"Continuing transformation with a focus on strengthening the positive cultures of human resources at Pertamina is becoming an important agenda. With many important projects that should be implemented to achieve national energy security, gaining trust becomes very important to make the project can be implemented," said Massa.
He also believes that Pertamina’s transformation coupled with a positive attitude, work smart, fast, strong guts and work with the heart, Pertamina can achieve its vision as a world class energy company faster.
He was born in Kabanjahe, Karo Regency, North Sumatra, Elia Massa Manik began his career at PT Indofood Sukses Makmur (INDF) before joining the Suez Group until 2001. He had joined PT Kiani Kertas, then he joined PT Jababeka.
As the alumni of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Asean Institute Management in Philippines, he was once became a part of Pertamina’s family when he served as the President Director of PT Elnusa since July 2011 to 2014. Recently, Massa joined PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) III since April 2016 and judged as a successful person for managing 14 state plantation holding companies.
