Significantly Impact the Economy, Pertamina Supports the Mandalika MotoGP Event

Jakarta, October 11, 2023 – The success of the previous year's MotoGP event in boosting the local economy has driven Pertamina to support the 2023 international MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), explained that Pertamina fully supports the international race in Mandalika because it serves as a means to attract domestic and international tourists.

"Events like MotoGP in various countries have economic impacts and multiplier effects, including in Indonesia. As a state-owned enterprise, Pertamina supports this international event to provide economic benefits to the community, including small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs)," said Fadjar.

Fadjar added that the 2022 MotoGP event had an economic impact of approximately IDR 5 trillion, including MSMEs, and employed around 4,600 workers.

"The 2023 MotoGP event in Mandalika is the right moment to boost the economy post-pandemic. At the same time, this event will enhance Pertamina's global branding," Fadjar emphasized.

The 2023 MotoGP race will support three crucial points for Indonesia: boosting tourism, improving the country's branding, and ensuring multiplier and economic effects.

The 2023 MotoGP event is scheduled to take place from October 13 to October 15, 2023, at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit. The Mandalika MotoGP series promises to be highly competitive among the racers.

MotoGP Indonesia is the 15th series of the 2023 MotoGP season. As of the 14th series, the MotoGP championship leaderboard is led by Italian rider Francesco Bagnaia from Ducati with 319 points, closely followed by Spanish rider Jorge Martin with a mere 3-point difference.
