Self-Reliant Energy Village, Pertamina's TJSL Program Receives B-Universe CSR Awards 2023

Jakarta, June 1, 2023 - PT Pertamina (Persero) has once again been recognized with an award, this time through the CSR Awards 2023, organized by B-Universe.

This achievement is a testament to Pertamina's consistency in implementing various Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs, as Pertamina was selected as one of the 19 award recipients. The award ceremony, held in Jakarta on May 31, 2023, was attended by Muhadjir Effendy, the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, who served as an honorary judge.

At the B-Universe awards event, Pertamina was recognized for its consistent TJSL programs implementation, which have made positive contributions through several community-based sustainable programs.

Pertamina received the energy & basic materials category top award through the Self-Reliant Energy Village Program, which utilizes new renewable energy (NRE) for community energy and economic self-reliance.

Other TJSL programs within the Pertamina group, such as the Karawang Work Spirit Healthy Farmer Resilience Food Program under PT Pertamina EP Subang, the Environmentally Friendly Bank Program under PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Samarinda, and the Self-Initiated Waste Collection Program under PT Badak LNG, were also appreciated as active CSR Initiatives within the company.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, VP Corporate Communication, expressed that this achievement is both a responsibility and evidence of Pertamina's consistency in implementing various TJSL programs, considering that this award was contested by 800 companies, with only 19 selected as recipients of the B-Universe CSR Awards 2023.

"Pertamina has provided access to New Renewable Energy (NRE) as a solution to the increasing energy needs of society, in line with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our programs are tailored to the community's need while adhering to the development of social, economic, environmental, and governance pillars," said Fadjar.

Through the Self-Reliant Energy Village Program, Pertamina provides access to New Renewable Energy (NRE) as a solution to the growing energy needs, implemented in collaboration with the community.

By the end of 2022, 47 Self-Reliant Energy Village programs benefited 2,750 households, resulting in an increase in community income of over IDR 1.8 billion per year and contributing to a reduction of 530,000 tons of CO2 equivalent total carbon emissions per year.

The total energy generated in this program includes 110,000 Wp Solar Power Plants, 16,200 Wp Hybrid Power Plants (solar and wind), 605,000 m3 per year of Methane Gas and Biogas, 8,000 Watts of Micro Hydro (water flow utilization), and 6,500 liters per year of Biodiesel.

Through the Self-Reliant Energy Village program, it is hoped that community empowerment programs, including education, economics, and the environment, can be developed to achieve economic and energy self-reliance.

Pertamina works together with communities to enhance understanding of climate change and optimize the development of locally sourced renewable energy, such as solar, wind, biogas, and waste in Pertamina's fostered villages or the frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged areas, to produce affordable and clean products that can be utilized for daily activities and contribute to sustainable economic growth.

Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Technology, and Information of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Tedi Bharata, also recognizes and values Pertamina's achievement in this event.

"This is evidence that Pertamina is truly focused not only on providing energy solutions but also on benefiting society and the environment through the Self-Reliant Energy Village program. It is hoped that this appreciation will inspire Pertamina to continue delivering even greater achievements and benefits to the community," said Tedi.

As a leading company in the energy transition, Pertamina is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission target for 2060 by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievements. All these efforts align with the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across Pertamina's business and operations.**
