Pertamina's Fuel Consumption Increases Six Days Before Eid, Pertamax Turbo Surges 90%  

April 6, 2024 - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, as the Commercial & Trading Sub-holding of PT Pertamina (Persero), recorded an increase in fuel consumption during the Eid al-Fitr 1445 H holiday travel period, specifically on Thursday (4/4) six days before Eid. The highest surge occurred in Pertamax Turbo, with 938 kiloliters (KL) per day, rising by 90.7% compared to the normal sales of 492 KL/day.

"There has been an increase in Pertamina's fuel consumption during the Eid al-Fitr 1445 H holiday travel period. This follows the public's awareness of using quality fuel," said President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Riva Siahaan in a written statement on Saturday (6/4/2024).

The second-highest increase in fuel consumption occurred in Pertamina Dex, with a total of 927 KL/day, which increased by 33.1% compared to the normal sales of 696 KL/day. The next increase in Pertamina's fuel consumption occurred in Dexlite, which rose by 29.8% to 2,217 KL/day, compared to the normal sales ranging around 1,708 KL/day.

Furthermore, an increase in fuel consumption during this year's Eid holiday travel period also occurred in Pertamax. The consumption of Pertamax, usually 12,729 KL/day, increased by 24.8% to 15,890 KL/day.

"Pertalite consumption also recorded growth during the holiday period with an increase of 11% from the usual 81,130 KL/day to 90,043 KL/day. Finally, the consumption of Solar fuel increased by 9.3% from 43,638 KL/day to 47,683 KL/day as of April 4," added Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Irto Ginting.

Furthermore, LPG and kerosene consumption increased by 4.4% and 43%. LPG consumption, which is usually 28,468 MT/day, became 29,733 MT/day, and kerosene increased from 1,352 KL/day to 1,933 KL/day.

Additionally, Avtur consumption also increased by 15.1% from the usual 11,428 KL/day to 13,459 KL/day, and Biosolar consumption for marine vessels increased by 17% from the usual 1,640 KL/day to 1,920 KL/day. The only fuel consumption decrease occurred in the industrial sector, which declined by 22% from 40,324 KL/day to 31,395 KL/day.

"Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to strive to fulfill the energy needs during the Eid al-Fitr holiday travel period," said Irto.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, also stated that despite the increase in fuel consumption before Eid, it is ensured that the fuel stock is sufficient. As of April 5, 2024, the stock is as follows: Pertalite for 20 days, Pertamax for 40 days, Turbo for 63 days, LPG for 15 days, and Avtur for 38 days.

"The fuel stock resilience is still above 20 days, and LPG is 15 days, so the stock is guaranteed to be sufficient for the public's needs during the travel period," concluded Fadjar.**
