Pertamina Successfully Recovers Land Assets in East Java by Synergy with the Attorney General's Office and BPN

Jakarta, September 29, 2023 - PT Pertamina (Persero) is collaborating with the High Prosecutor's Office of East Java and the Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN) in East Java to manage state assets in the region. Through this collaboration, Pertamina has successfully recovered land assets with a total area of 583,131 square meters (m²) with a value of at least IDR 850 billion located in Gunungsari Village, Dukuh Pakis District, Surabaya City, East Java.

The assets handover was marked by asset certificates tranfer from the BPN to Pertamina at Pertamina's headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (29/9). Present at the event included Erry Widiastono, Director of Business Support of PT Pertamina (Persero); Sri Pranoto, Director of Government Land Management at the Ministry of ATR/BPN; and Mia Amiati, Head of the East Java High Prosecutor's Office.

Director of Business Support of PT Pertamina (Persero), Erry Widiastono, expressed gratitude for the strong collaboration between Pertamina, the Attorney's General Office, and BPN to recover state and state-owned enterprise (SOE) assets.

“We believe that this government asset might not have been able to return to Pertamina without the support from the Attorney General's Office and the BPN. Through a long journey, this asset finally returned to the state. Hopefully, this can benefit the nation and this country,” Erry said.

Erry added that the crucial asset recovery is carried out by involving stakeholders, including the Attorney General's Office and BPN, so that state-owned or state-controlled assets can be capitalized upon and provide significant added value to SOE and the nation.

“This is not the end. We still need the support of various parties, because Pertamina’s assets recovery can be achieved through good cooperation,” Erry added.

Sri Pranoto, Director of Government Land Management of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, said that the cooperation needs to be continued to manage government’s and SOE’s land or assets with various conditions in the field.

“The Ministry of ATR is trying to resolve this issue so that the assets are not lost, and we do not harm the community , preventing it from becoming a significant problem,” Sri Pranoto said.

Mia Amiati, Head of the East Java High Prosecutor's Office, said that the Attorney General's Office servers a representative of the state or government in the field of administrative law, with the condition that they have a specific mandate. On behalf of the government, SOEs, or regional-owned enterprises (BUMD), the Attorney General's Office has the authority when entrusted with a special power of attorney.

“Asset management can be done by persuasion, non-litigation efforts, and convincing third parties to release what they have physically acquired,” Mia Amiati said.

In the future, Pertamina hopes that the synergy established with the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency of the Republic of Indonesia and the Attorney General's Office can continue to save the country’s assets.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.
