Pertamina President Director Ranks 6th among the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business by Fortune Global

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) proudly announces that Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan again won an award and ranked 6th among the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business according to Fortune Global magazine.


This achievement increase her standing from 19th place last year to the 6th place among 50 Most Powerful Women in Business shows her success. With the rise of rank, Karen is also one of the nine most influential women who experience biggest positive improvement (big movers and new comers).


"This award is an award for Pertamina and entire Indonesia, for without full support of all components of the nation, Pertamina would not be able to achieve such an accomplishment," said Karen.


Fortune's assessment that Karen deserved the 6th place this year was took into account her success in managing the company with US$70 billion revenue and net income reaching US$2.7 billion, and the company's 122th position of Fortune Global 500.  This net income of US$2.7 billion, an increase of 15% compared to the previous year, is by far the highest achievement by the company since its establishment.


During her tenure as Pertamina President Director, Karen has been ushering Pertamina through a series of breakthroughs such as the change of company vision to be World Class National Energy Company, the establishment of gas directorate to answer Indonesia's future energy challenge, and the more aggresive approaches in reaching profitable downstream, including the plan to build and bottom upgrade refineries, the marketing lubricants that now exporting to 24 countries while maintaining its market share in domestic market at 60% level. Pertamina has been also successfully maintaining the oil production growth at the average of 6.6% per year in the past 5 years.
