Pertamina NRE Ready to Supply Clean Energy During Ramadan & Eid al-Fitr

Jakarta, April 7, 2024 - As the vanguard of the energy transition, Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) ensures clean electricity supply stability for the community and industries during the Ramadan & Eid al-Fitr Task Force (RAFI) period in 2024.

Pertamina NRE guarantees that all its power plant operations are in prime and smooth condition to supply energy for the homecoming journey and Eid holidays.

Geothermal power plants managed by Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (PGEO) are ready to distribute green electricity with an installed capacity of 672.5 Megawatts (MW). In several provinces, such as Lampung, clean electricity supply from geothermal sources contributes more than 20%. Meanwhile, North Sulawesi and Gorontalo regions contribute nearly 30% of the peak electricity demand in those provinces.

Solar Power Plants (PLTS) also provide approximately 53 MW of green energy. This solar-powered electrical infrastructure supports Pertamina Group's operations from upstream to downstream sectors, including at hundreds of gas stations (SPBU) across Indonesia.

"Pertamina Group's commitment to supporting the smoothness of Ramadan & Eid al-Fitr homecoming is evident from upstream to downstream. Every part of Pertamina contributes. We at Pertamina NRE also contribute to providing clean energy for the community and industries," explained Dicky Septriadi, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina NRE.

This Ramadan, the Jawa-1 Steam Power Plant (PLTGU) is also ready to operate at full capacity after undergoing a series of technical tests on Friday (29/3). With the completion of these processes, this 1,760 MW integrated steam power plant, the largest in Southeast Asia, also ensures the availability of clean electricity in the future.

Pertamina NRE also guarantees electricity supply for industries through cooperation with PT Perkebunan Nusantara III (PTPN III) and the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (SEZ) by utilizing palm oil waste as a new renewable energy source in the form of Biogas Power Plants (PLTBg). This PLTBg could generate electricity with an installed capacity of 4.4 MW for industrial players in the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone.

Furthermore, Dicky stated that the Pertamina NRE team is ready to ensure the supply of clean electricity and periodically conduct monitoring and evaluation during the RAFI Task Force.

"We conduct management visits to work sites. We also hold Commander's Call to improve communication and supervision. So that all aspects of work can anticipate and provide the best solutions to ensure the smooth operation of all our power plants," Dicky explained.

Pertamina NRE is fully committed to fulfilling the mandate of realizing national energy resilience while carrying out a fair and sustainable energy transition through the low-carbon new and renewable energy technologies development to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2060. Pertamina NRE is also ready to expand its reach globally by projecting expansion into foreign markets.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
