Jakarta, September 13, 2023 - Pertamina New Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) has just received an ESG Rating assessment of 13.0 with a 'Low-Risk Category' level by the global ESG rating agency Sustainalytics. This assessment places Pertamina NRE in the 3rd best position globally for the Independent Power Producer & Trader (IPP & Traders) sector as the ESG Rating conducted by Sustainalytics.

"This is a proud achievement; Pertamina NRE ranks 3rd best in ESG values within the IPP & Traders sector. This accomplishment demonstrates that Pertamina NRE provides tangible evidence of its commitment to implementing ESG aspects in sustainable company management," said the CEO of Pertamina NRE, Dannif Danusaputro.

Pertamina NRE is a Pertamina Subholding at the energy transition forefront through clean energy development. Pertamina NRE focuses its business on three pillars: low-carbon solutions, renewable energy, and building new and future businesses.

VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, conveyed that Pertamina NRE's achievements result from strong cooperation between the Sustainability function at Pertamina and its Subholdings.

"The excellent collaboration between the Sustainability function at Pertamina and each Subholding has led the Pertamina Group to receive 4 ESG ratings from Sustainalytics," Fadjar stated.

In addition to Pertamina NRE, the Pertamina Group companies that have received ESG Ratings from Sustainalytics include PT Pertamina (Persero) (score 22.9), PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (score 24.2), and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (score 31.2).

Sustainalytics is a leading global ESG rating agency that assesses the ESG risk exposure of companies operating in specific industries. In measuring and evaluating ESG ratings, Sustainalytics measures the company's exposure to material ESG risks in specific industry and how well the company manages these risks.

Sustainalytics divides ESG ratings into five categories based on a company's performance in managing ESG and business risks: scores from 0 to 10 fall into the 'Negligible Risk' category, scores from 10 to 20 into 'Low Risk,' scores from 20 to 30 into 'Medium Risk,' scores from 30 to 40 into 'High Risk,' and scores above 40 into 'Severe Risk.' A lower score indicates lower risk and better ESG management quality for the company.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
