Pertamina Ensures Fuel and LPG Availability During Christmas and New Year in Sulawesi

December 19, 2023 - As the Christmas and New Year celebrations approach, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi has formed a Christmas and New Year Task Force (Satgas Nataru) to ensure the Fuel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) stock and distribution throughout the Sulawesi region are in a secure condition.

Erwin Dwiyanto, Executive General Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, stated, "The public does not need to worry, let alone resort to panic buying. Purchase according to your needs and avoid excesses," he said during a press conference on the readiness of Satgas Nataru Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi in Manado City on Friday (15/12).

Erwin explained that Pertamina conducted a series of projections, calculations, and predictions regarding the increase in consumption during the Nataru moments, especially in the transportation sector. There is a 4 percent increase in Gasoline consumption, while Gasoil is expected to have a 3.7 percent decrease. The 3 kg LPG consumption is predicted to increase by 4 percent, Non-Subsidized LPG by 2 percent, and Avtur consumption by 2.9 percent compared to consumption conditions in October of this year.

Based on these projections, Pertamina has increased its stock by 10 percent for fuel, added an extra 3-4 percent dropping for LPG, and 10 percent for Avtur. During the Nataru period, Pertamina is implementing extra measures by forming Satgas Nataru from December 15, 2023, to January 7, 2024, to monitor and ensure the distribution readiness of all distributors, both for fuel and LPG, as well as special emergency conditions that may disrupt distribution.

In addition to these measures, to support smooth travel, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi has introduced Pertamina Delivery Service, 186 Emergency Petrol Stations (SPBU) operating 24 hours a day, 352 Agent and outlet Emergency LPGs to cover high-demand areas, and 7 Pocket Petrol Stations (Mobile Storage) throughout Sulawesi that will be on standby at potential congestion points, disaster-prone areas, and cities with Christmas celebrations in Toraja and North Sulawesi, as well as 6 points on the Main Tourist Routes in Sulawesi, including Manado and its surroundings, Toraja, Malino, and Tanjung Bira.

"In these months, we are also vigilant against weather disturbances and natural disasters that may disrupt distribution. Therefore, our Regular Alternative Emergency (RAE) pattern is prepared from all fuel and LPG supply points to anticipate natural disasters," Erwin explained.

To secure the fuel, LPG, and Avtur distribution, Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi is also coordinating various efforts. Besides internal coordination, external coordination with local governments, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, BPH Migas, the Police, the Military, Telkom, and Banking institutions to ensure distributors' transaction needs can continue to be served.

Erwin added that public awareness in Sulawesi regarding quality fuel use has significantly increased before the Christmas and New Year holidays, with a 15% increase in the consumption of Pertamax Series and Dex Series products.

"This proves that the people of Sulawesi are already aware of the quality fuel use for long journeys, and we hope it is implemented continuously by using fuel according to the vehicle's manual for daily consumption to keep the engine running smoothly," Erwin explained.

Erwin also urged people to conduct non-cash transactions at petrol stations using the MyPertamina application, downloadable from the AppStore and PlayStore. Various promotions and attractive prizes are available in the application until the end of this year for every Pertamax Series and Dex Series purchase. "Basically, Pertamina Siaga is present with four main concepts: Energy Availability Services, Additional Services, Promotion Services, and Remote Area Services. All packaged with the spirit of 'Energizing The Nation' as part of brightening the atmosphere of Christmas and New Year for the community," he concluded.
