Pertamina Energizing Your Action: Sustainable Environment, Prosperous Society

Jakarta, June 17, 2023 - Collaboration among the government, corporations, and communities in environmental conservation is the key to achieving sustainability goals. Small actions from each individual will impact the environment, creating a prosperous society in the future.

It became the discussion in the inspirational talk show "Giving Back to the Community, Giving Back to the Environment" at the Pertamina Energizing Your Action event on Saturday (17/6) at Lippo Mall Kemang, South Jakarta. The talk show was presented by Emma Sri Martini, the Finance Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), public figure and social activist Cinta Laura, and Enjang Ramdhani, an advocate of Pertamina's Independent Energy Village in Karawang.

During the session, Emma Sri Martini conveyed that Pertamina not only carries out business activities and operations that are more environmentally friendly but also collaborates with various parties, including the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, educational institutions, and communities, to preserve the environment.

One of Pertamina's flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs is the Independent Energy Village, which invites residents to preserve the environment while providing access to and education on renewable energy sources (EBT). With this program, communities have an alternative energy source that not only saves electricity costs but also contributes to reducing emissions in their surroundings.

Emma added that Pertamina also engages with high schools to raise environmental awareness among students. "Education is a key focus for us to encourage the younger generation to understand and care about nature," Emma explained.

In agreement, actress and social activist Cinta Laura stated that an environmentally unfriendly lifestyle would have consequences in the future. "One of the best things we can do to promote behavioral change is to be a good example in our own lives. What I do is I pick up plastic waste on the street and encourage others to do the same,” Cinta said.

Meanwhile, Enjang Ramdhani mentioned that the community in Karawang has enjoyed various benefits from Pertamina’s Independent Energy Village program. She explained that Pertamina fully supports the aspirations of the community’s aspiration, aiming to improve the living environment quality.

"Pertamina is very attentive to the needs of the community. Alhamdulillah, the Independent Energy Village in Karawang is now entering its third year and continues to provide the best for the village," Enjang stated.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, added that the Pertamina Energizing Your Action event aims to educate the younger generation and the general public about the challenges of climate change.

"We want to have discussions with the younger generation, share ideas and perspectives on the concrete actions we can take for the future of our planet," Fadjar explained.

In commemoration of World Environment Day, PT Pertamina (Persero) organized the Pertamina Energizing Your Action event, a creative platform for environmental education for the community.

This event, featuring various talk shows and environmental activities, is expected to provide information and inspiration to the younger generation about the importance of environmental sustainability. One of the goals is to accelerate access to and transition to renewable energy in society, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
