Pertamina Energizing Your Action: Climate Change is Clamant, Real Action is not an Option

Jakarta, June 18, 2023 - The event 'Pertamina Energizing Your Action' highlights PT Pertamina (Persero)'s efforts to accelerate the energy transition and the new renewable energy (NRE) development to support emission reduction in Indonesia. This Pertamina initiative is one of the company's efforts in the climate awareness campaign, raising awareness and concern among all parties for taking real action to protect the Earth.

One of the talk shows held at this event is titled "Climate Change: The Clock is Ticking," where the President Director of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia, Dannif Danusaputro, along with content creator Raditya Dika and the founder of FoodCycle Indonesia, Herman Andryanto, emphasized that climate change threat is increasingly urgent, and real action from all parties is needed as soon as possible.

Dannif shared his views on how their company, as Pertamina New and Renewable Energy (PNRE) Subholding, is accelerating energy transition and the new and renewable energy development through green hydrogen, solar power, EV Ecosystem, gasification, biomass, green refinery, bioenergy, and circular carbon economy development. Pertamina's actions make it easier to realize the plans.

"As an oil and gas company, Pertamina realizes that corporate environmental concerns are crucial. In line with the growing energy demand, Pertamina also strives to reduce emissions. We are deeply concerned about how to continue production while maintaining the Earth’s sustainability," Dannif explained.

On the same occasion, Raditya Dika expressed his opinion that environmental preservation should start with oneself and with small things in one's environment. "I already have solar panels installed at home. We should prioritize what is truly important when making purchases so that there is no waste," said Raditya.

Focusing on the food waste emergency, Herman Andryanto, the founder of FoodCycle Indonesia, explained that food waste contributes to climate change. "Food waste accounts for 6-8 percent of greenhouse emissions. Hopefully, people can start thinking about it because the impact of throwing away food is felt in climate change," Herman concluded.

In the Pertamina Energizing Your Action event, visitors were seen enthusiastically participating in talk shows and various environmentally friendly workshops, electric vehicle education, and new renewable energy development.

VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that the Pertamina Energizing Your Action event aims to educate the younger generation and the general public about climate change challenges.

"We want to have discussions with the younger generation, share ideas and perspectives on real actions that we can take for the future of the Earth," Fadjar explained.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
