Pertamina Eco RunFest 2023 to be Enlivened by 20,000 Participants Embracing an Eco-friendly Lifestyle

Jakarta, November 14, 2023 – Pertamina Eco RunFest 2023 will be participated by nearly 20,000 participants, including runners and festival attendees. For the running category, there are four segments prepared: the Family Run 1.5K (for ages 7-12), Fun Run 5K (for ages 13 and above), Race 10K (students aged 13-16, public aged 17-44, and masters aged 45 and above), and Half Marathon 21K (for ages 13-44 in the public category and masters aged 45 and above).

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that this year marks the 10th year of Pertamina organizing the Eco Run by reintroducing the concept of sustainable living, aiming to inspire across generations by educating society about an eco-friendly lifestyle.

"A huge appreciation goes to all the running and festival participants who registered through the MyPertamina app. Celebrating the 10th year of this event, the enthusiasm this year surpassed expectations, with all tickets sold out. We have 10,000 runners in Eco Run and 8,500 participants in Eco Fest," said Fadjar.

Fadjar added that Pertamina Eco RunFest 2023 will continue advocating the public for environmental awareness, emphasizing the importance of a healthy, green, and sustainable environment. Leveraging waste into highly-valuable economic resources, reducing plastic waste, and ensuring the planet does not further warm are among the initiatives. It is hoped that through these positive habits, we can leave a legacy for future generations.

"Pertamina has also undergone energy transition and decarbonization for the earth’s sustainability. Despite numerous challenges, Pertamina remains committed to executing these programs to achieve NZE or net zero emissions," Fadjar emphasized.

The theme for Pertamina Eco RunFest 2023 is "Energizing Your Move". With the spirit of "Energizing Your Move", Pertamina will continue to advocate for positive steps toward a better planet through the Sustainable Living Concept. This concept revolves around a sustainable lifestyle that is more environmentally conscious, willing to alter behaviors for the planet’s good, and raising awareness among those around us, starting with our families, to collectively strive for the planet’s and our descendants’ future.

"The future of a sustainable earth and life can be achieved if we collaborate, starting with simple actions such as reducing plastic waste or even utilizing organic and non-organic waste to create valuable goods, planting more trees, reducing waste burning in our surroundings, and opting for eco-friendly energy sources," Fadjar explained.

The 10th Pertamina Eco RunFest will be held at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on November 26, 2023. Pertamina offers a total prize exceeding IDR 500 million, and all Pertamina Eco Run participants could win door prizes worth hundreds of millions of rupiahs.
