JAKARTA – PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding utilizing gas for transportation fuel, city gas network, and Independent Power Producer (IPP) in order to support the petroleum fuel (BBM fuel) to gas conversion program, driven by the government, as well as to support the Jakarta regional government's commitment to green energy.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Pertamina Gas Director Karyuliarto and Jakpro President Director Budi Karya Sumadi in Jakarta, Tuesday (31/12).
Hari said that as an energy state-owned company with strong awareness on environmental issues, Pertamina is committed in optimally utilize green energy resources, particularly in driving the energy conversion program from BBM fuel to gas energy source for transportation, city gas, and Independent Power Producer (IPP) sector.
According to Hari, Jakarta is one the biggest BBM fuel consumers in Indonesia, which present huge potential for implementing energy conversion program. Furthermore, the Jakarta city government has issued Regulation on controlling the air pollution, which is in-line with the program.
“Partnership to be built between Pertamina and Jakpro shows the companies' commitment in supporting the acceleration of conversion from BBM fuel to gas and other renewable energy resources, as stipulated in Presidential Decree No. 5 year 2006 regarding National Energy Mix. For Jakarta City Government, the partnership will support the control of air pollution, as stipulated in the Regional Regulation,” said Hari.
“Partnership with Jakpro is the right step, whereby Jakpro as the regional-government owned company provides local access to the acceleration of gas infrastructure development, be it for transportation, city gas, as well as for Independent Power Producer. Pertamina's role will be providing gas infrastructure in accordance with international standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 18001, and become the parameter in world-class gas infrastructure reliability,” he said.
Through this partnership, Pertamina aims to develop infrastructures, such as setting up Gas Fuel Station (SPBG) at strategic locations in Jakarta and building city gas network at apartment complexes that have been and to be built by Jakpro. Besides, Pertamina and Jakpro will conduct in-depth study on building city gas pipe and IPP as well as supporting facilities for Special Economic Zone (Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus/ KEK) and electricity facilities to support Mass Rapid Transportation (MRT).
