Surabaya, February 8, 2023 - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, K.H. Ma'ruf Amin, inaugurated the Jambaran-Tiung Biru (JTB) National Strategic Project (PSN) in Surabaya, East Java, Wednesday (8/2). The Jambaran-Tiung Biru Unitization Gas Field Project was developed by PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC), which is part of the Eastern Indonesia Region, a PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) subsidiary, Subholding Upstream Pertamina.

Present at the JTB inauguration are the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, Head of SKK Migas, Dwi Soetjipto, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), Wiko Migantoro, and President Director of PEPC, Endro Hartanto.

JTB will supply 192 MMSCFD of gas for the power plants and industry needs in the East Java and Central Java regions and meet household needs in Lamongan through the gas network program (jargas).

During his remarks, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, K.H. Ma'ruf Amin, said that natural gas use is increasing as the cleanest fossil energy. "This shows the vital role of natural gas in meeting national energy needs and in Indonesia's energy mix policy," Ma'ruf said.

Therefore, the government continues to encourage clean technology use by stimulating the domestic industry, such as developing JTB unitization field inaugurated today.

"Further, it will supply the large demand for gas on the island of Java. Meeting the demand for gas is expected to stimulate the business and improve the community's economy at the regional and national level," Ma'ruf explained.

President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Nicke Widyawati, explained that the JTB gas use as clean energy follows energy independence policy for each region, contributing positively to national energy independence.

"All gas supplies from JTB sourced from East Java are given to the people of East Java. Thus, energy independence from the gas sector will be realized for East Java," Nicke said.

Nicke further said that Pertamina would replicate this in other regions in Indonesia, "We hope it will not only stop at JTB because Pertamina will achieve Indonesia's goal, that is national energy independence. We will start with energy independence per region based on energy resources in the region," Nicke said.

President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, Wiko Migantoro, said that the JTB field development is one of the National Strategic Projects in Presidential Decree No. 109 of 2020. In the operational phase, JTB will always prioritize HSSE aspects. Thus, it can operate smoothly.

"Hopefully, JTB can help meet the community's need for gas fuel as one of the environmentally friendly transitional energy contributing to reducing emissions. It is to strengthen PHE's position as a company that prioritizes ESG principles in every company's business processes," Wiko explained.

Several strategies that support the efforts to increase oil and gas production are carried out through massive and aggressive exploration activities following the road map green strategy, such as decarbonization and gas use as transitional energy. It is hoped that JTB can support the 1 million BOPD national production target of oil and 12 BSCFD of gas in 2030.

PEPC has also succeeded in maintaining Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) aspects during the JTB project work, shown by 61,552,917 total safe working hours until January 2023 and zero recordable incidents.

The JTB Field existence has a multiplier effect on the community and provides added value to the regional development economy. Additionally, JTB is also committed to assisting the government in meeting the community's need for energy and gas fuel use as one of the environmentally friendly energy transitions to consumers as a commitment to reducing emissions.**
