PT Pertamina (Persero) successfully achieved the Best Innovator Teams award in the Integrated Independent Energy Village Program at the SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals Awards Ceremony held at Unika Atma Jaya Auditorium, Semanggi, Jakarta, on Wednesday (August 2, 2023).

Jakarta, August 4, 2023 - The Pertamina Group, including PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Kilang Pertamina Indonesia (KPI), and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), has received three awards at the SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals Award organized by the Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN), a representative of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in Indonesia. These awards reflect Pertamina's young workforce commitment to innovate sustainable programs, thus achieving Pertamina's vision as a sustainable company.

The SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals is a program by UNGC aimed at developing young talents and organizations in accelerating business innovation toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event was participated by 677 innovators from different countries, members/sub-members of UNGC, with 69 innovators from Indonesia. All innovators went through a fellowship period and a nine-month innovation completion period. Participants in this event were not limited to State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) but also included private sector and industrial representatives.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, appreciates young Indonesian professionals who participated and received these awards. "I hope the participants can drive and accelerate Indonesia achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The participants' dedication will motivate us to finding solutions to various issues, from poverty and education quality to climate change. The best innovations from the participants is expeted to bring honor to Indonesia during the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in New York," he stated virtually at the Award Ceremony in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 2).

In this event, PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) named as the Top 6 Best Innovator Teams. Meanwhile, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) achieved the Top 9 Best Innovator Team position. These Best Innovators will present their innovations representing Indonesia at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, in September 2023.

Apart from the awards for the three Pertamina Group teams, IGCN also appreciated the SDGI Mentors, namely the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati, President Director of PHE Wiko Migantoro, and President Director of KPI Taufik Aditiyawarman.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated Pertamina's young workforce enthusiasm participating in the SDG Innovation Accelerator is part of Pertamina's efforts to achieve sustainability targets. "The programs submitted by Pertamina to participate in the SDG Innovation Accelerator have been realized, and their impacts have been felt by society and the environment," he said.

In this event, Pertamina carried the program "Strategic Strengthening of Indonesia's Energy Transition Roadmap with Justice through Empowering Local Communities based on Circular Economy, with a Case Study: Innovation of 'Self-Reliant Energy Villages in Indonesia' as a Nationwide Renewable Energy Movement." Meanwhile, KPI's program was "Clean Energy for Life," and PHE's program was "ENTITY - Energizing Integrated Upstream Communities based on Self-Reliant Energy Villages."

One program presented by Fadjar was the Pertamina Self-Reliant Energy Village. In this program, Pertamina encourages the clean energy use, such as solar panels, within local communities. Pertamina takes on roles ranging from identification and installation, to maintenance and optimization of clean energy usage, ensuring its benefits for society and environment. Utilizing clean energy, could reduce carbon emissions, also stimulates the local economy around the operational area. "This program aligns with Pertamina's business approach, which always considers economic and ecosystem balance," Fadjar said.

The event was attended by the Deputy for Maritime and Natural Resources, Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Dr. Vivi Yulaswati, UN Resident Coordinator in Indonesia, Valerie Julliand, Executive Director of Indonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN), Josephine Satyono, and Deputy Rector for Research and Cooperation at Atma Jaya Catholic University, Dr. Yohanes Eko Adi Prasetyanto.

This prestigious event involved a professional Jury Council comprising Dr. Aditya Warman, Dr. Irenius Dwinanto Bimo, Natalia Soebagjo, Sinta Kaniawati, Timotheus Lesmana, Dio Handayo, and Verlyana Hitipeuw, who represented the government and private sectors and expertise in sustainable innovation programs.
